Global Village-Kids Support:

This classroom was built in 2002 by Global Village-Kids. Our continued sponsorship allows the offering of daily, 3-hour classes in basic reading and math literacy. These classes are available free of charge to all children in the village who are orphaned, or from single parent homes, or who are unable to pay the 5 cents per day required to attend the state-sponsored  public school.

Classroom in Prey Veng

In order to reach a larger population and to offer the benefits of the Cambodian Literacy for Empowerment Program, the Cambodian Organization for Research and Development (CORDE) established Centers of Learning throughout Cambodia. These centers invite youths and the adult population to deepen their reading ability, to increase their powers of expression, and to engage in social action to improve their community. Youths and adults are systematically trained upon a path of service so that, by their own efforts, they can transform their communities. Among the courses offered by the learning centers are: Peace Education, Environment Education, Organic Agriculture, Primary Health Care and Community Banking.
